TriCities MMA Fighters Held Their Own in Knoxville:
Great job to all the TriCities fighters, we are proud of you. You guys put on one heck of a show, and made us proud to tell Knoxville where we are from.
The X Series Fighting Championships
The X Series Fighting Championships was at the Knoxville Convention Center in Knoxville, TN Saturday June 25, with X Series: Crossroads “Powered by Kinetik”. This was an A+ event with great talent, a great venue, and great value for the entire family. Gene Click did a wonderful job bringing big time MMA back to Northeast Tennessee. urTriCities.com filled up the gas tank and took the drive down to Knoxville to support and enjoy our local fighters.
X Series is an A+ Event
First off, X Series is a family event. The music that was played for fighter’s entry was “clean” and the MC was very professional and entertaining. The crowd was respectful, and the fighters showed great sportsmanship. This is very important to us, to be able to bring our children to this type of an event, and show them the type of athletes and quality of character MMA has and can develop.
The MC and commentators (TriCities own Cyrus Fees and Casey Oxendine) were, as always, OUTSTANDING. Great job guys, you are truly TriCities pride.
The cost for the entire event was only $25.00. This was a great value to the fight fan; we got there around 3 PM and did not leave until 2 AM. That is almost 12 hours of no stop MMA action. The Knoxville Convention Center was an ideal place for this type of an event. The fighting area was very clean and comfortable. The sound system, “Powered by Kinetik”, was loud and hard hitting. The entire show from the fighter’s entry, to the fighter’s victory was organized and heart pumping.
urTriCities.com are fans of the X Series
urTriCities.com is fans of the X Series Fighting Championships, and we plan to attend many more events. The show overall was an A+ with only a few critiques and ideas to make it better.
There were only a hand full of vendors at the event, we would love to see more vendors, products, and activates in the staging area of the convention center. X Series gets 2 thumbs up for providing free kids ID kits…Much appreciated by all the parents that brought their children.
There were 2 big projection screens in the back of the area promoting the sponsors and providing live, in the cage, video streams. These were great, but we believe they could have been utilized better if they were placed on each side of the ring so people could view them during the fight. During most ground action during the fight, everyone was looking backwards to see the live video feed.
This event was very, very, very long. Most of the crowd started to leave before the main event because of the late hour. It might be a good idea to make this type of production into a two day event. We loved the value, but got a little tired towards the end. We were looking forward to the after party at the Roaming Noam, but started thinking Perkins was a better option.
Those are the only critiques about the entire event. We would recommend anyone and everybody to check out this production. This is one of the best, and professional productions we have seen.
For more information on the X Series check out their website: www.xseriesmma.com

Niswonger Children’s Hospital License Tag Program
Niswonger Children’s Hospital License Tag Program
Dear Community,
Let me say “Thank you” for the many ways you support Niswonger Children’s Hospital! Did you know that the proceeds from the Niswonger Children’s Hospital license plates supports programming at the Niswonger Children’s Hospital surgery center? Thanks to last year’s Niswonger Children’s Hospital license tag sales, more than $2,300 was raised to stock the toy room in the Niswonger Children’s Hospital surgery center to help cheer up young surgery patients.
“We allow each child to choose a toy after surgery,” said Chana Kirby, nurse manager of the pre- and post-operative areas at Niswonger. “We tell them ahead of time that they will get a prize, so they have something to look forward to while they’re getting ready for their procedure. It helps to take their mind off any worries they might have and eases the process for them.”
The toys encompass all age groups, from babies to teenagers. Since older patients might not be interested in dolls or Lego blocks, the toy room also includes iTunes gift cards and craft kits.
Unfortunately, our program is in jeopardy, and we need your help. We need at least 100 new Niswonger Children’s Hospital license plates issued by the end of June. Without this support, we will lose our Scrubs the Bear specialty license plate! Please consider signing up for a Niswonger Children’s Hospital license plate, and help spread the word in your community.
If you have a tag and renew your tag, that counts as well. Feel free to forward this appeal to your friends, fellow club members, etc who may be supportive of our need. We are so blessed to have Niswonger Children’s Hospital serving the children of this entire region and want to proudly promote the facility while putting the money to good use!
Thanking you in advance,
Patricia Holtsclaw

The Plumber’s Hardware
The Plumber’s Hardware
Business Review this week took me to 19 E Roan Mountain to mention the fine folks at The Plumber’s Hardware. The parking lot was full as usual when you go there. If you are planning for a home renovation the great service excellent box hardware store, is The Plumber’s Hardware.
Before people say “oh that’s status quo in the market today, as everyone has put service in the forefront to try to improve sales. But that is not the case here, I tried to do a survey from the costumers outside the store and most of them gave a great review and well complimented the service they have experienced in their dealings with Donnie and his staff.
Most of the society has been coming here since they were children and now their bringing their kids with them. The prices are very competitive and economical to other large stores, and the resources of information that they have is incomparable in any region. They were the DIY TV before it existed. They were hands on, demonstrating how to install a p-trap and explained the porpuse of this strange looking object.
Brothers Mike and Perry Gray founded Plumber’s Hardware in April 1992. They were the plumbers and both are successful business man, however there were always people who drop by the office to purchase pices of pipe, and ask a little tips on how to fix or install the part. They saw a real need for the community to supply their neighbors with plumbing supplies and have someone answer their inquiry for them.
They decided to buy a land and design a building that would be able to provide not only plumbing supplies but also hardware, tools, paint and anything you can think of to use for home improvement or on the jobsite. They decided to assign one of their plumbers to manage the store as he would be able to help costumers with plumbing questions and after meeting with and observing Donnie work of their clients I can see the Gray brothers made a wise choice.
Plumber’s Hardware staff is consists of family members they all take great pride in treating their customers like they are part of the family nothing like regret we don’t have or can’t get. If they do not have it, which is rare, they will call around and find it for you, even if it is to the competition. If you live in this part of the county, make a trip there some time, visit and check out this very impressive shop.
They are open 6 days a week, and is located on Highway 19-E North to the right, can not miss them, large quantities of pipes on their lot out front.
The Plumber’s Hardware contact number is : 423-772-4465.

Elizabethton Twins Big Brother of Summer
Elizabethton Twins Big Brother of Summer
This review is brought to you buy The Fan’s Edge: 15-75% off all jerseys this week only at FansEdge.com
urTriCities.com has been enjoying warmer weather in the TriCities, and spring is definitely in the air. When the weather turns warm and everyone has spring fever, baseball fever becomes contagious. The Appalachian Baseball League doesn’t start until the middle of June, but urTriCities.com just couldn’t wait to see some baseball. We love our Elizabethton Twins, so we decided to take a little road trip south to follow the big brother of summer, the Minnesota Twins. The Twins were in action against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field.
We were invited to enjoy “The Tampa Bay Experience”, and would like to thank the Tampa Bay Rays and Tropicana Field for the hospitality we experienced.
The Rays played in St. Petersburg, Florida, and one of the greatest experiences of the evening was the drive to the stadium. Driving to St. Pete (as the locals call it) you must travel along the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. This bridge is approximately 5.5 miles longs and was voted as one of the top 10 bridge in the world, and is considered the flagship bridge of Florida. The view was breath taking, and we found ourselves driving 20 miles per hour slower than the speed limit. Being tourists…it was absolutely beautiful.
When we first approached the stadium, we were somewhat afraid of the parking because of the huge price tag. The cost of parking was from $15 – $30, but if you drive a little bit further you will be able to find parking for as little as $5. We went with the $5 parking, and enjoyed the extra $25 in pocket and the 5 minute longer walk.
The game was on April 15th, Jackie Robinson Day, and the Tampa Bay Rays did a wonderful job in honoring this legend. We have read many reviews of Tropicana Field, and we will give it 4 thumbs up. The stadium is a little smaller than most, but just like Bristol (for those NASCAR fans), there is not a bad seat in the house.
Tropicana Field is a very “kid friendly” field (and urTriCities friendly). They have a stingray tank that is free to the general public, with many booths and activities for kids and adults to enjoy as a family.
The stadium was very, very, very clean compared to many other MLB stadiums. They did a wonderful job entertaining the fans between innings. They also had a super scoreboard that helped keep the players and stats on track.
The only disappointing thing of the night…The Twins lost.
Once again, thank you Tampa Bay Rays and Tropicana Field for letting us have the Tampa Bay Experience.
For ticket information to the Tampa Bay Rays please call 800-FAN RAYS or go to their website www.raysbaseball.com
