Capone's in Johnson City

Comedy Vault Review

tim northern aprilWhen we first entered Capone's we were greeted at the door by the bouncer who checked our ID's. We were told about the “Comedy Vault” and that it was downstairs. Only problem was there were a lot of doors around so we didn't know exactly where it was. Then I saw someone come out a door with a vault on it and and I thought that is the way to get downstairs. Maybe a sign above the door would make this clearer.

After going down the stairs we were greeted once again and directed where to sit. Riley Fox; who is a college student in Knoxville, or Knox Vegas (LOL), was the MC. He had some pretty funny jokes and made for a beginning of a hilarious night. I give the MC 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Next up was Nathan Wallace from Louisville, KY. I personally thought this comedian was so funny he had me crying. His opening joke was about a man breaking into his house to only leave his own business card for security systems. His funniest joke of the night that had me crying and laughing the hardest was about an acquaintance of his asking him to be his "emergency sitter" for his young son who he had never met. The little boy ran off, when he found him and grabbed him by the arm. The boy threw a tantrum and turned into a "limp noodle" on the floor screaming "your are not my daddy". As if this wasn't funny enough when he was telling the joke; he then went on saying as soon as the boy started screaming that, police officers ran over and grab his arm, so he himself fell to the floor like a "limp noodle"; acting just like the young boy did. Check out www.nathanwallacecomedy.com to get more info on my favorite comedian. I give this comedian 6 out of 5 stars! This is one Comedian that I would love to see return!

The Headliner was Tim Northern from Nashville, TN. One of his opening jokes was about his grandfather being George Washington Carver who carved George Washington's from peanuts. I had a few other favorite jokes from Tim. The first was about a blind golf tournament....why can't it be played at night???? The second one was his snooze button on the alarm clock joke. He played golf with the guy who invented the snooze button. So when he found that out he kicked him in the ass and kicked him again in the ass again 9 minutes later! While Tim had funny jokes, his strength was his audience interaction. He did a great job getting the audience involved with the show. I give this comedian 5 out of 5 stars.

The only time we had to leave the show was to go to the bathroom; in which we had to go upstairs. Every time the door opens to go up or down the stairs you hear the band being played upstairs. A suggestion would be to have bathrooms downstairs also. We were very well taken care of in The Vault by the hostess. I give her 5 out of 5 stars.

After all the awesome laughter, we made it upstairs to watch Matt Stillwell and his band performs. I am not one to like country music, actually I would have to say it’s probably one of my least favorite genres of music, but I really enjoyed their music. They are more of a country rock band. They know how to work a crowd, everyone was on the dance floor at all times and Capone's was packed!

We didn't not plan on staying here past 1 am. So Capone's did an awesome job on making a great environment with friendly service, outstanding comedians, and an awesome band! Over all I give Al Capone's in Johnson City, TN 4.5 out of 5 stars! We will definitely return for more GREAT times!
